As EVOO producers, health is of paramount importance to us and we also love joining in and supporting healthy living activities and habits everywhere. On June 25th, we accompanied the “Sierra Nevada Límite“, the 7th edition of a road cycling race that takes its name from the National Park where it takes place.
On race day, as the sun rises from behind the towering peaks of Sierra Nevada while a group of more than 500 intrepid riders prepare their body and minds for yet another challenge. They will be taking part in either one (92km) or both legs of the ride (180 km), a sporting feat few can entertain. We too prepared for the day by setting camp at the finish line. We -and our EVOOs- waited for all participants to arrive and were once more a main part of the event by awarding the winners in each category one of our EVOOs.
EVOOs are well known for its health benefits as part of a regular diet. Together with exercise, it is crucial to staying healthy for longer throughout our lives. EVOO contains polyphenols, whose antioxidant effects help preventing cardiovascular diseases. For sports fans, it helps to reduce swelling which in turns reduces recovery time after a training session or competition. Quaryat Dillar manufactures and bottles all of its production in a way that preserves the much treasured polyphenols.
Francisco Robles, from Granada, won the 180km race 5h 52min 28sec after starting the race while Carmen Campaña, from Cordoba, won the women’s race. Congratulations to both of you.
In the 92km race, Fernando Romera and Daniel de la Fuente from the Castel del Ferro Club, crossed the finish line in that order but together and holding hands, a gesture of true champions. The ever more popular Elena Pérez Muñoz dominated the women’s race.
From Almazara Quaryat Dillar, we want to congratulate the winners of this race that help promote Sierra Nevada, as a sporting destination and gives so much to so many people by promoting healthy living habits.
